The OK Black Conference Championships were held yesterday at Reeths Puffer. After a close, but hard fought meet, the lady knights pulled ahead for the victory. Their first place marks them as undefeated this year in the conference and the fourth consecutive OK Black title.
Starting the meet with a first place was the 4 x 800 relay team consisting of Dylann Hodgkinson, Katie Westfall, Emily Bajema, and Madi Goen. They set a meet record in a time of 9:32. Freshman Bajema was also the champion of the 400 meter dash. McKena Boos was the leading scorer out of all teams earning just more than 30 points. She won the 100, 200, and helped the 4 x 200 meter relay to a 1st place (1:48.08) and 2nd in the 4 x 100 meter relay. Senior Christina Nguyen ran a 47.99 to win the 300 hurdles, finished 2nd in the long jump, and helped the 4 x 400 meter team (consisting of Bajema, Doucette, and Berg) to the 3rd relay win of the night.
Outside of the 4×8 win, Dylann Hodgkinson put up solid performances in the 1600 (4th place), 800 (6th place), and 3200 (3rd place) earning an additional 11 points. Katie Westfall had a fourth place in the 800 and a 5th place in the 3200. Megan Kupris split Zeeland’s throwers with a 4th place shot put. Other medal scorers included Mackenzie Stewart, Bri Elliott, and Kirra Body. In total, there were 9 All-Conference athletes; nearly half of the awards given out.
