Meet Recap

As the sky turned dark and the stadium lights turn on, the Kenowa Hill’s girls track team was left with one race. The 4×400 relay in a dual meet is five points or nothing; the Knights were down four points and needed to win the event to win the meet. Anna Berg started the race strong, easily putting the team in the lead. By the time the final exchange took place to Emily Bajema, the KH squad had a commanding lead of almost eight seconds, winning the race and the meet.

The one point victory was a close call for the Knights and not possible without everyone’s contribution. Key individuals included Berg scoring 16 points, Bajema scoring 15 points, and Aubrey Doucette scoring 12 points. Anna Wilson won both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles setting a season best in the 100. Maria Donihue had a strong showing in the 800 meter run finishing 3rd place by only one hundredth of a second, also another decisive event for the team. Katie Westfall won the 800 and was part of the winning 4×400 relay. The Knights final conference meet is next week against Jenison High School.
